- ja 鯰絵とは、地震を起こすと考えられていた地震の原因を地中の大鯰に求め、それを神仏や人々が懲らしめている様を描いた錦絵で、安政江戸地震の後に出版されたものです。当館で所蔵している23枚の鯰絵をご覧いただけます。
- en Namazu-e are nishiki-e that attribute earthquakes to a giant catfish dwelling underground and depict deities and people punishing it; they were published in the aftermath of the Ansei Edo earthquake (1855). You can view 23 namazu-e from our library’s collection.
